Job Developer


SUMMARY
 The Job Developer is responsible for identifying potential job placement opportunities for job seekers.  The Job Developer will also establish and maintain activities to develop, locate, and secure job openings. Other duties include initiating and sustaining ongoing personal contacts with a variety of business and industry representatives and job placement/training agencies to promote programs for participant placement; making cold calls to potential employers; explaining the benefits and employment support services provided by The Employment Center to employers, and constantly updating database and internet resources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Networking and building relationships with employers in and outside the Navy Yard to create awareness of the Employment Center’s job ready candidates for employment.
  • Develop, maintain, and update an employer job bank.
  • Match and refer Employment Center job ready candidates to employer vacancies.
  • Monitor and track employment placements and progress.
  • Document all contacts with prospective, current, and former employers.
  • Required to uphold a specific quota in regards to the number of employers contacted and job orders secured on a weekly basis
  • Assist Sr. Employment Specialist, as needed, with pre-screening and assessment of job applicants
  • Performs other duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Bilingual is a plus
  • Strong background of word processing, spreadsheet, and data base software.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to initiate contact with potential employers
  • Comfortable travelling around NYC region via public transportation for follow-up visits with prospective, current, and former employers
  • Capability to think creatively in regards to securing job orders
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and/or Saturdays in support of Employment Center activities and meetings
  • Strong Internet research skills, particularly related to employment.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health, Human Service, Business Administration or equivalent years of experience.

SALARY RANGE
Commensurate with experience
