Industrial Restoration Technician

A Brooklyn Navy Yard-based transportation company is seeking an Industrial Restoration Technician. The candidate must have 1 year of verifiable experience in painting, water, or sand blasting, cannot be afraid of heights, and be able to climb ladders that are 16-18 inches wide. A highly coachable and trainiable candidate is ideal as we will be training the candidate for UHP certification.

Daily Task

• Cleaning of tanks, air testing of tanks, and vessel painting.
• Use of hand and power tools, including but not limited to scrapers, wire brushes, needle guns, pneumatic chippers, sandblasting equipment and UHP water blasting equipment.
• Exhibit proficiency in reading blueprints.
• Assist in the docking and releasing of vessels from docks and piers.
• Follow environmental and safety regulations and act in compliance with US laws.
• Provide air and water services to vessels.
• Pump fuel, oil and slops to and from vessels.
• Other unskilled and semi-skilled manual work as assigned.Confer with supervisory representatives to discuss existing or potential labor department projects.

This role, under direct supervision, will perform semi-skilled manual work. Relies on direct supervision to plan and accomplish goals.
