Job Title: New Business Manager

Salary: $60/hr.

The Albert C. Wiltshire Employment Center recruits qualified candidates for positions within the Brooklyn Navy Yard, a 300-acre industrial park housing over 400+ businesses within the manufacturing, food, media, technology, and creative fields.
A Brooklyn Navy Yard-based new experience design studio is seeking a New Business Manager to join their interdisciplinary experience design studio. As a member of their sales team and working closely with leadership, you will play a key part of a collaborative team identifying, qualifying, cultivating and closing new business opportunities.
We have an immediate opening on our team for a New Business Manager. The primary responsibilities include:
  • Develop knowledge of AV&C’s portfolio, capabilities, differentiators and strategy sufficient to convey our value proposition to potential clients
  • Qualify inbound opportunities, assessing suitability and fit of prospective clients and projects to AV&C’s strategic aims, sales goals, and operational capacity
  • Brief the leadership team on qualified opportunities using clearly articulated business rationales
  • Develop sales presentations and materials, and participate in meetings with prospective clients
  • Maintain client relationships, act as a guide through the scope and contract negotiation process, and support and advocate for them with clear recommendations, expectations, and next steps
  • Develop scope, budget, and schedule in collaboration with internal discipline leaders
  • Write proposals, and collaborate with contracting and legal team during contract review process
  • On-board our project teams to a won project, transferring knowledge including project background and history, client relationships, scope, schedule, and strategic goals developed during sales process
Additionally, the role requires management of our pipeline CRM, which includes:
  • Maintain client, contact, project, and communications data to keep pipeline and CRM up to date
  • Present periodic reports collecting, analyzing, and summarizing pipeline status and sales process
  • Establish and report progress on new business KPI’s
  • Collaborate with the Creative Director and Marketing Manager to develop case studies, copy, and media for use in sales presentations and materials
  • Manage and maintain our collection of sales presentations and materials
  • Collaborate with discipline leaders to evolve AV&C’s offerings and go-to-market approach
  • Occasional travel for meetings, conventions and networking events.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working in a business development or sales capacity for a design, technology, or creative professional service firm
  • Curious, empathic and strategic thinker able to understand and align the aspirations and needs of prospective client stakeholders.
  • Familiar with experience design and related disciplines, and able to articulate their value to prospective clients.
  • Firmly grounded in the world of design, technology, contemporary arts, and culture.
  • Cultivate and leverage professional networks
  • Proactive and effective verbal and written communicator
  • Enterprising and tenacious in the pursuit of multiple concurrent objectives – organizing and balancing priorities, and mitigating obstacles
  • Software: G-Suite applications, Sales CRM and pipeline management software, Slack, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite
