Employment Status: Full-Time

Salary: $27 p/h

A Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation employer partner is seeking a Program Coordinator. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for planning and executing community programs including but not limited to Read Where You Are, Big Book Parties and Community Libraries.

The Program Coordinator will also support the Ambassador program, a group of event volunteers who support execution of the
community programs. Additional programs may be added at our discretion if support is required. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, and able to effectively communicate with a diverse range of individuals and organizations. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer & Cofounder, the candidate will play a key role in implementing the programs.

a key role in supporting our mission.

Key responsibilities to include:
● Designing and coordinating programs: Working with staff and program sites to execute program site assessments, design programs, volunteer coordination, performing artist selection, and site logistics.
● Meeting facilitation: Facilitate online and in person meetings with agendas and recording minutes with staff, program sites and vendors as needed to ensure clear and timely information flow.
● Project management: Monitor progress and set deadlines for program design and execution. Weekly or bi-weekly check-ins and updates with staff to discuss progress, address concerns, and provide status reports.
● Documentation: Maintain program documentation. Collaborate with BBB staff to track program progress, collect relevant data, and to maintain accurate and up-to-date program documentation as required, including program budgets.
● Communication with program sites, staff, volunteers: Communicate both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and interact with diverse stakeholders (e.g. vendors, volunteers, ambassadors, program sites, and staff). Lead volunteer orientation and volunteers in task execution and to create a welcoming space for programs.
● Problem-solving: Critical thinking to address program-related challenges and ensure stakeholder satisfaction through program design, planning and execution.

Education, Skills, Experience:
● Bachelor’s degree in communications, Education, Social Work, Human Services, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field (3-5 years of work experience).
● Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with a variety of audiences and to present information clearly to different groups of stakeholders and constituents.
● Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple events and projects simultaneously and to meet deadlines; track program data.
● Excellent interpersonal skills with a commitment to building relationships and fostering community engagement.
● Passion for connecting and networking.
● Ability to travel to sites.
● Bilingual abilities are a plus.
● Proven experience in program design/execution role, nonprofit, or equivalent experience.
