Salary: $20/hr. +

The Albert C. Wiltshire Employment Center recruits qualified candidates for positions within the Brooklyn Navy Yard, a 300-acre industrial park housing over 400+ businesses within the manufacturing, food, media, technology, and creative fields.

A Yard-based business is seeking a full-time Receptionist/Administrative assistant. The primary function of the Receptionist / Administrative Assistant is to maintain the telephone system, welcome visitors to the office, arrange facility access for visitors and employees, and perform office and payroll administrative functions. Applicants must be bilingual Spanish.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Immediately greet visitors in a professional, friendly, hospitable manner and maintain visitor logs
  • Open and close visitor area (locking doors, closing blinds, turning off lights)
  • Manage multi-line telephone system and route calls as appropriate
  • Excellent telephone etiquette
  • Excellent verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish
  • Receive incoming packages and prepare outgoing packages as needed
  • Manage conference room bookings
  • Enter man hours and purchase orders into computerized database
  • Assist with administrative overflow when required including providing support to production supervisors and managerial staff
  • Assist applicants and employees with the completion of paperwork.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma required, Associate Degree in Business or Accounting preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in an administrative, payroll or accounting support position
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in typing and using common office equipment such as computers, copiers, fax machines, scanners and multi-function office machines
  • Professional composure with excellent judgement and decision-making ability
  • Proven ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discretion
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Be flexible and responsive to changing priorities
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite: Outlook, Word and Excel
