Salary: $80,000 - $85,000

This is a hybrid role based in Brooklyn, NY (3 days/week in-office)

 

Summary

The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC) is a not-for-profit corporation that serves as the real estate developer and property manager of the Yard on behalf of its owner, the City of New York. BNYDC strives to provide an environment in which innovative companies can take root and grow.

The BNYDC Workforce Development and Education team is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the Yard’s portfolio of workforce development programs such as the BNYDC Employment Center, the Navy Yard Internship and Real Estate Fellowships, and our partnership with the Brooklyn STEAM Center (a NYCDOE career and technical education high school located on-site). The Business Partnerships team plays an important role as Work Dev’s ambassadors to the various tenants located within the Yard, promoting our programs and supporting their hiring goals.

We are seeking a Senior Business Partnerships Manager to lead our team of two (2) BPMs and oversee the day-to-day implementation of our business engagement and outreach strategy.

Areas of Responsibility
  • Cultivate strong partnerships with a portfolio of tenants through proactive outreach
  • Develop strategies to enhance tenant businesses’ utilization of the center for hiring
  • Manage day-to-day business engagement, sourcing, and candidate referral operations
  • Ensure that the BPM team meets quarterly and annual goals and tracks relevant data
  • Stay informed about industry trends in manufacturing, engineering, biotech, and other Yard sectors, and communicate impact to stakeholders
  • Perform research and analysis to advise employers on labor market trends, including wage standards
  • Improve talent sourcing efforts through relationships with CBOs, colleges, training programs, and professional networks
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align recruitment and education strategies
  • Promote our portfolio of programs to tenants and support other BNYDC Workforce Dev initiatives
  • Identify opportunities to elevate the Workforce Dev’s impact on Yard businesses and the local community
  • Perform other duties and ad-hoc projects as needed
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Proven ability to coach and effectively manage a team toward stated outcomes and goals
  • Knowledge of workforce trends in manufacturing, engineering, biotech, and other STEM- related industries
  • Results- oriented with strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
  • Track record in relationship cultivation and management within a diverse network
  • Project management expertise with a high level of organization
  • Adept at performing market research, analyzing data and reporting to stakeholders
  • Persuasive verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with labor data tools such as Lightcast to gather labor market intelligence
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM preferred
Qualifications
  • BA/BS preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in employer engagement, recruitment operations, talent sourcing/hiring, workforce development, or a related area
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • 2+ years of direct job placement and/or business staffing experience
  • Must be able to work some nights and weekends
  • Spanish/English bilingual a plus
