Job Title: Tool Crib Helper
Employment Status: Full-Time
Salary: $17 - $20 p/h
A Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation employer partner is seeking a detail-oriented Tool Crib Helper to join our team. The Tool Crib Helper will assist the Tool Crib Attendant in issuing tools, maintaining records and keeping the work area in clean condition. The ideal candidate will support the initiatives of our Purchasing Department under the direct supervision of the Purchasing Manager. This position is suited for those who thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, juggling multiple projects and tasks.
Responsibilities:
– Maintain the cleanliness of the work area
– Assist in inventory counts and reconciliation of discrepancies
– Ensure tools are properly stored and maintained
– Assist in identifying and disposing of obsolete or surplus inventory
Skills:
– Strong organizational skills
– Ability to lift or move heavy objects

– Computer literacy
– Proficiency in materials handling techniques
Candidates must be able to effectively communicate. Must be detail-oriented and highly organized with a positive attitude. Must be highly accountable and take initiative to foresee issues before they occur and proactively seek out solutions.
High school diploma required. Must have a minimum of two years of prior work experience as a helper or laborer in an industrial worksite. Experience/certification in the operation of warehouse vehicles/material handling equipment a plus. Must be able to work nights and weekends. Bilingual Spanish is a plus.
May require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to climb stairs. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read information. Use of personal protective equipment such as respirators, hard hats and safety footwear required while on work sites. Work will involve visiting work sites both indoors and outdoors at all times of the year. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
