A Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation employer partner is seeking a highly capable Supervisor to support daily retail operations, guide team members, and ensure an exceptional customer experience. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, a natural problem-solver, and deeply customer‑centric. This role is perfect for someone with hands-on retail experience, strong gifting knowledge, and comfort using POS systems in a fast-paced, high-touch environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Experience & Service:
Serve as a customer‑first leader, ensuring every guest receives warm, attentive, and personalized service.
Assist customers with product selection, gifting recommendations, and overall brand experience.
Resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally to maintain satisfaction and repeat business.
Team Leadership:
Support, coach, and motivate team members to meet service and operational standards.
Lead by example in communication, work quality, professionalism, and hospitality.
Assist with training staff on POS systems, product knowledge, gifting procedures, and store standards.
Operational Excellence:
Oversee daily floor operations, ensuring the store is clean, organized, and visually aligned with brand expectations.
Open and/or close the store following established procedures.
Ensure accurate POS transactions, cash handling, and adherence to retail processes.
Assist with inventory counts, restocking, and maintaining product presentation.
Problem-Solving & Communication:
Act as a first point of escalation for customer, staff, and operational issues.
Use sound judgment to solve challenges quickly and effectively.
Communicate clearly across all levels—staff, customers, and management—ensuring smooth operations and alignment.
Required Skills & Experience:
Retail background is essential—preferably in boutique, gifting, specialty food, or luxury retail.
Experience with POS systems and comfort training others on their use.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent problem‑solving ability with a calm, solutions‑focused approach.
Demonstrated commitment to delivering a customer‑centric retail experience.
Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
Strong attention to detail, particularly in packaging, presentation, and gifting.
Preferred Qualities:
Experience in premium or artisan retail environments
Passion for sweets, confections, or elevated food experiences
Creative eye for gifting, display, or presentation
Leadership experience (key holder, lead associate, shift supervisor, etc.)
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (product, packaging, stock)
Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment
