The Albert C. Wiltshire Employment Center recruits qualified candidates for positions within the Brooklyn Navy Yard, a 300-acre industrial park housing over 400+ businesses within the manufacturing, food, media, technology, and creative fields.

A DOE school located on the Brooklyn Navy Yard is seeking a passionate and dynamic Design and Engineering teacher to inspire and guide our next generation of innovators. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a creative and collaborative learning environment where students can explore the intersection of design, technology, and engineering.

Responsibilities
● Develop and implement engaging and standards-aligned lessons daily in design and
engineering.
● Create and maintain a stimulating learning environment equipped with the latest
technology and tools.
● Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity among students.
● Guide students through the design process, from ideation to prototyping and final product development.
● Collaborate with other STEAM teachers to create interdisciplinary projects.
● Mentor and advise students in their design and engineering pursuits.
● Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in design and engineering.

Qualifications
● Associate’s degree in engineering, design, or a related field required.
● Two or more years of industry experience in the engineering, architecture or related field.
● Teaching certification preferred, but not required.
● Proven experience in teaching design and engineering concepts.
● Strong understanding of design principles, engineering processes, and technology.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Ability to inspire and motivate students of diverse backgrounds.
● Passion for fostering creativity and innovation.
