Job Title: Environmental Laborer
Employment Status: Full-Time
Salary: $22.00 p/h
A Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation business is seeking an Environmental Laborer to assist the Safety Director with a number of tasks:
Confer with supervisory representatives to discuss existing or potential labor department projects. Use of personal protective equipment such as respirators, hard hats and safety footwear is required while on work sites. Work will involve visiting work sites both indoors and outdoors at all times of the year.
Responsibilities:
- Clean areas of construction
- Transport heavy items from one facility to another via forklift
- Expedite checklist for production and produce timely and detailed service reports
- Operate and maintain various remedial systems, such as drills, pumps, electrical equipment
- Assemble and maintain field equipment and systems; inspect equipment and troubleshoot as necessary
- Collect water samples from vessel docks, raw, semi-processed or processed water, industrial wastewater, or water from other sources to assess pollution problem
Must Haves:
- Experience in a Laborer or Maintenance capacity within construction; including power tools and electrical equipment
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task effectively
- Excellent analytical and judgment capabilities
- Ability to work well individually and within groups
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
