Job Title: Financial Controller
Salary: $100,000-$110,000/yr.
The Albert C. Wiltshire Employment Center recruits qualified candidates for positions within the Brooklyn Navy Yard, a 300-acre industrial park housing over 400+ businesses within the manufacturing, food, media, technology, and creative fields.
A Brooklyn Navy Yard-based manufacturer of television sets and corporate events is seeking a full time permanent Financial Controller to supervise their accounting-related activity within their business.
GENERAL JOB OVERVIEW: A Financial Controller supervises all accounting-related activities in the organization. Duties include maintaining internal controls over financial reporting, presenting financial reports to the President and overseeing the preparation of budgets. The Financial Controller directly manages all finance department employees to assist with payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensuring that the organization meets the necessary tax, permit & licensing requirements.

Establishing more effective processes and controls to ensure the integrity of the Company’s ledger.

Oversees all financial control activities.

Providing the President with accurate and comprehensive financial information to guide effective policy.

Summarizes budget trends and analyzes deficiencies.

Providing outside auditors with the necessary documentation and support.

Assists the outside CPA with tax preparation duties and helps prepare the reports.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Five years experience as a Senior Accountant or Controller preferred.

A practical understanding of management accounting principles.

Solid knowledge of standard accountancy and finance best practices.

Solid IT skills including proficiency in QuickBooks, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office 365.

A strong understanding of tax codes and laws.

Strong analytical skills to effectively analyze financial reports.

In-depth knowledge of budgeting and financial forecasting.

Strong organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication.
