Job Title: Mid-Level Fabricator

Salary: $25-35 p/h
A Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation employer partner is seeking a Mid-Level Fabricator. We are a leading architectural fabrication company located in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. We are seeking a mid-level Fabricator to join our team. This position will report directly to our Director of Production and Lead Fabricators, and work with our Project Managers to successfully complete projects.
Candidates must be proficient in a wide variety of woodworking applications and be able to operate all standard woodshop machinery. A strong foundation in traditional woodworking craft employed in cabinetmaking, architectural millwork or furniture is required. Most of our projects include a combination of CNC fabrication and handcrafted work, so an awareness of both methods and how they can be integrated is a plus. On-site / installation experience and skills are a plus.
Our projects often comprise multiple materials and methods thus candidates must have a general proficiency working with steel and aluminum, plastics, composites, and other construction materials.
Skills and Abilities:
● 3-5 years of professional experience in a woodshop / fabrication environment
● Technical excellence in machinery operation and assembly skills
● Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy
● Ability to implement efficient work methods and demonstrate on-the-fly problem solving skills
● Strong written and spoken communication skills
● Ability to read architectural drawings; proficiency in Rhino 3D is a plus
● Excellent organization and tidy work habits
● Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on teams
● Must speak English (ESOL acceptable)
● Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
● Have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent knowledge, skills, experience, or training certification
The position requires the following physical abilities:
● Ability to lift objects up to 50lbs to a height of 3-4 feet.
● Ability to work continuously for 2-3 hours standing up.
● Ability to work in a fabrication shop environment
● Maintain a high level of communication as a team member.
