Salary: $55,000 - $60,000

This is on onsite role reporting to the Brooklyn Navy Yard Monday – Friday 9am-5pm.

 

Summary:

The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC) is the not-for-profit corporation that serves as the real estate developer and property manager of the Yard on behalf of its owner, The City of New York (the City). BNYDC constantly strives to provide an environment in which businesses and careers can take root and grow, while also supporting access to quality jobs and career pathways via our workforce development services, training programs, educational partnerships, and public programming.

The Program Coordinator will help implement experiential and work-based learning initiatives for school-aged and young adult New Yorkers, with a focus on 11th and 12th grade scholars at the Brooklyn STEAM Center. They will also contribute to broader youth programming that fosters interest in STEAM, advanced manufacturing, and innovation. Responsibilities include supporting program development, industry partnerships, and data management to ensure high-quality youth experiences.

Responsibilities:

BNYDC and Brooklyn STEAM Center Partnership Support (70%)

  • Coordinate work-based learning activities including site visits, guest speakers, and other hands-on experiences that align with each STEAM CTE career pathway
  • Collaborate with Brooklyn STEAM Center instructors to ensure work-based learning experiences are aligned with instructional goals and student competencies
  • Source industry professionals and partners for STEAM Center programs, coordinating industry introductory visits and on-site tours
  • Assist with planning and executing the annual public showcase of student work
  • Support STEAM Industry Advisory Council meetings and activities including outreach, calendaring, logistics, and meeting management
  • Contribute to the development and distribution of program communications and informational materials
  • Utilize database systems to track program participation, metrics, and outcomes for ongoing evaluation and reporting

BNYDC Youth Experiential Programming (30%)

  • Provide programmatic support to execute workforce-oriented youth programs and events such as Advanced Manufacturing Day, the Annual Apprenticeship Career Fair, and Design Challenge/Hack-a-thon
  • Contribute to the design and development of program elements and activities
  • Support cross-departmental collaboration on relevant youth and workforce initiatives

Required Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent project management and organization. Demonstrated capacity of managing tasks and deliverables across multiple projects and timelines
  • Experience working across teams and/or stakeholders to execute projects or programs. Experience creating and managing project plans preferred
  • Strong verbal communication skills. Comfortable speaking to a variety of stakeholders and audiences across different channels
  • Strong business writing, proofreading, and editing skills
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders, industry partners, and program participants
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Proficient in various project management and reporting systems
Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience in education, program coordination, and/or job training programs
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends to support program delivery
