Product Manager

Job Title: Product Manager

Employment Status: Full-Time

Salary: $60,000

A Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation employer partner is seeking a Product Manager.

Role Overview:
This position is part of the Climate Justice Fellowship Program, funded by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). The program offers a year-long, full-time opportunity to gain hands-on experience with organizations advancing clean energy and climate justice in disadvantaged communities.

The Product Manager Fellow will lead the development and validation of an AI-powered product suite (platform) for fleet operators in disadvantaged communities. This role will embed you with a beta group of CTAP fleet partners to rapidly prototype solutions, conduct deep customer discovery, and secure early product traction. You’ll own the process of building MVPs, gathering operator feedback, and creating a commercial launch playbook to transition into full-scale deployment. This fellowship is a high-ownership opportunity to drive product innovation that advances clean transportation and transit equity.

About the Fellowship:
As a Fellow, you’ll benefit from mentorship in product development, environmental justice, and clean mobility strategy—while contributing to real-world solutions for equitable transportation access. During the fellowship, you’ll have the opportunity to experiment with AI tools/products and demonstrate your leadership through the product development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct customer discovery with at least 10 CTAP fleet operators to identify core workflow challenges and validate product needs.
Collaborate with engineering to design and iterate MVP prototypes, focusing on dispatch automation, customer support agents, and admin workflow tools.
Develop handoff documentation and playbooks for company’s Head of Product to scale post-fellowship.
Secure LOIs (Letters of Intent) or pilot agreements from at least 5 DAC-based operators.
Craft a Go-To-Market (GTM) strategy, including pricing models, customer onboarding plans, and positioning.
Produce a “Commercial Launch Kit” with business model reports, pilot plans, and scaling roadmaps.
Co-design and facilitate 3 workshops on platform functionalities for fleet partner staff.
Participate in MOU negotiations and co-design sessions with fleet partners.
Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Community Engagement teams to align customer strategies.
Required Work Experience:
Demonstrated experience in customer discovery, user research, or product validation.
Background working on product or service delivery with external stakeholders or partners.
Familiarity collaborating with technical teams to define and iterate on product features.
Experience contributing to go-to-market planning and business model strategy.
Proven ability to work in cross-functional environments.

Required Skills:
Customer Discovery & Interviewing
Prototyping & MVP Development (No-code/Low-code familiarity preferred)
Business Model Canvas & Competitive Analysis
Go-To-Market Strategy Formulation
Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership Building
Project Management & Documentation

Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with AI-powered workflow automation (e.g., agents, agentic systems, MCP).
Some experience with prompt and context engineering.
Experience working with small business owners or community-based organizations.
Knowledge of clean transportation, urban mobility, or DAC-related programs.
Ability to distill complex product feedback into actionable reports and roadmaps.
Experience bringing digital products to market (i.e., prototype –> early user adoption).
