A Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation employer partner is seeking a full-time Woodworker/Fabricator. Our company is a creative fabrication studio specializing in custom builds for exhibitions, retail environments, brand activations, events, and set design. The studio works at the intersection of craftsmanship, design, and problem‑solving, producing high‑quality bespoke structures under tight timelines.

Role Overview:

Our company is seeking a skilled Woodworker / Fabricator to support the design and build of custom scenic, furniture, and installation pieces. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working from drawings to finished product in a fast‑paced shop environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate custom builds using wood, plywood, MDF, laminates, and mixed materials
  • Read and interpret shop drawings, CAD files, and design specifications
  • Operate woodworking machinery and hand tools safely and efficiently
  • Assist with prototyping, mockups, and problem‑solving during build phases
  • Perform sanding, finishing prep, and basic finishing as needed
  • Collaborate with designers, fabricators, and production leads
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace
  • Support on‑site installation and strike when required
  • Meet production deadlines while maintaining high quality standards

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience in woodworking, scenic fabrication, or custom fabrication
  • Strong knowledge of shop tools (table saw, miter saw, router, drill press, etc.)
  • Ability to work accurately from technical drawings
  • Comfortable measuring, cutting, assembling, and modifying builds
  • Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
  • Ability to lift materials and stand for extended periods
  • Reliable, punctual, and team‑oriented

Preferred / Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience in scenic shops, exhibit fabrication, or experiential marketing builds
  • Familiarity with CNC, basic CAD/CAM, or digital fabrication tools
  • Experience with finishing techniques (paint, stain, veneer, laminate)
  • Installation experience in galleries, events, or retail environments
  • OSHA 10 or shop safety training

Work Environment:

  • Hands‑on shop environment
  • Fast‑turn, project‑based work
  • Occasional overtime or off‑hours install work depending on deadlines

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and able to provide documentation
