A Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation employer partner is seeking a temp-to-perm Fabricator. Our studios in the Brooklyn Navy Yard are equipped with state-of-the-art machinery for wood, metal and plastic work. Our shop can also handle prototype sculpting, resin and plastic casting, sandblasting, lathe-work, milling, CNC routing and laser-cutting. Our team has a wide range of experience in all of the aforementioned fields, and specialist in other disciplines are added to the team as projects may require. Our cross media-expertise enables us to use whatever combination of materials and processes best suit your job.

Fabricator Responsibilities:

  1. Versatile Fabricator (Wood & Metal)
    • Works across wood, metal, and composite materials
    • Executes TIG/MIG welding, cutting, grinding, sanding, finishing
    • Reads and interprets drawings, performs inspections
    • Assists with fabrication, assembly, installation
  2. TIG Welder / Metal Worker
    • Performs TIG welding on various alloys (mild steel, stainless, brass, aluminum)
    • Reads/uses blueprints, measurements, grinders, and hand/power tools
    • Fabricates and repairs metal components for retail, sculptural art, and architectural projects
    • Preferred: press brake experience, manual lathe/Bridgeport operation
  3. CNC Router / Laser Cutting Technician
    • Supports DCM’s in‑house CNC routing and CO2/fiber laser cutting operations
    • Works with wood, metal, plastics for precision parts
    • Produces components for architectural, retail, exhibit, and fine-art installations
  4. Wood Fabricator / Carpenter
    • Fabricates high-end custom pieces in wood for furniture, retail displays, and art installations
    • Uses saws, sanders, joinery equipment
    • Collaborates with designers and artists on project execution
  5. Metal Fabricator
    • Handles metalwork for architectural elements, installations, furniture, and display systems
    • Uses welding, metal shaping, grinding, and finishing techniques
  6. Installer / Field Installation Technician
    • Installs completed pieces at client sites including galleries, retail stores, architectural spaces, and public art projects
    • Coordinates transport, assembly, and final fit/finish
  7. Shop Assistant / Fabrication Support
    • Assists in multi-material fabrication shop
    • Helps prep materials, maintain equipment, keep workspace organized
    • Supports fabricators across wood, metal, plastic, and resin operations

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and able to provide documentation
