Job Title: Industrial Mechanic

A Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation employer partner is seeking an Industrial Mechanic. We are expanding our team and seeking a skilled and hands-on Mechanic with experience in building and assembling industrial machinery. This is a full-time, on-site role for someone who takes pride in precision work, mechanical craftsmanship, and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities
● Assemble and build mechanical components, subassemblies, and complete machines based on blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
● Read and interpret schematics, mechanical drawings, and part lists to execute high-tolerance assembly of converting machinery.
● Install and align motors, bearings, shafts, rollers, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
● Troubleshoot and repair mechanical components during the build process and after testing.
● Collaborate with engineering and production teams to review and optimize designs during assembly.
● Perform routine maintenance and final inspection on completed builds to ensure proper function, safety, and readiness for customer delivery.
● Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient work environment in the shop.
● Document build progress and flag quality or design issues for resolution
Qualifications
● Proven experience (3+ years preferred) in assembling and maintaining industrial manufacturing equipment.
● Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, chain drives, and gear assemblies.
● Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings.
● Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
● Experience with bag-making, film converting, or flexible packaging machinery is a plus.
● Basic understanding of industrial safety protocols and commitment to quality standards.
● High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational training preferred.
