Job Title: Warehouse Associate

Salary: $18/hr.

The Albert C. Wiltshire Employment Center recruits qualified candidates for positions within the Brooklyn Navy Yard, a 300-acre industrial park housing over 400+ businesses within the manufacturing, food, media, technology, and creative fields.
A Brooklyn Navy Yard-based office supply company is looking for multiple Warehouse Associates. The Warehouse Associate is responsible for operations and logistics of merchandise orders while ensuring safety guidelines are met.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Build and construct merchandise to standard as instructed in a timely manner( Ex. Shelving; OTG).
  • Prepare merchandise for next day deliveries on export trucks and verify accuracy.
  • Ensure merchandise is prepared and ready on the platform upon arrival of export trucks.
  • Assists with daily maintenance of export trucks to include, but not limited to, removing rubbish and debris.
  • Monitor(retrieve, identify, and label) incomplete orders and/or stops on exports trucks from previous day.
  • Load export trucks and unload import trucks with merchandise.
  • Tag merchandise prior to warehouse entry and ensure accuracy of manifest/bill of lading for merchandise from import trucks.
  • Stock merchandise on proper designated aisle.
  • Reference incomplete stops from previous day and restock merchandise accordingly.
  • Ensure warehouse and work areas(including dock) are maintained for safety, cleaned, and prepared for the next day.
  • Performs other related duties as directed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of or ability to quickly learn company product codes and terminology.
  • Thorough understanding of warehouse policies and procedures.
  • Good analytical skills and ability to make sound judgments relative to inventory.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid state motor vehicle drivers license.
  • At least two years of work experience in a warehouse required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
  • Ability to move around the warehouse.
