Shanny Spraus-Reinhardt

Shanny is the Chief Impact Officer at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, overseeing workforce development, educational partnerships, and philanthropic fundraising efforts, helping BNYDC meet its mission of ensuring equitable economic development that lifts up its tenants and the surrounding community. She also oversees BNYDC's Human Resources department.

As a Brooklyn native, whose father and grandfather, both immigrants, worked as marine welders in shipyards across New York City, it’s incredible to be part of this next generation of work at the Yard, which empowers and creates opportunities for the community and fuels the city’s economic growth.

Shanny has over 15 years of experience working in government and non-profit sectors, as well as experience as a classroom teacher and civil engineer. Prior to joining the Yard, she served as Deputy Commissioner of Strategic Initiatives at the New York City Commission on Human Rights, advancing racial and economic justice initiatives. Before that, Shanny served as a senior advisor to the Deputy Mayor for Strategic Initiatives in the New York City Mayor’s Office, and was part of the operational team responsible for launching New York City’s groundbreaking Pre-K for All program for several years, also worked at the New York City Economic Development Corporation and the New York City Mayor’s Office of Capital Projects, managing the design and construction of large-scale capital projects across the five boroughs.
