Job Title: CNC Operator

A Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation employer partner is seeking a motivated entry-level CNC Operator to join our fabrication team. This position is ideal for someone looking to build a career in CNC machining and custom fabrication while working hands-on with Laguna CNC machinery. Training and mentorship will be provided for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
– Assist with setup and operation of Laguna CNC routers
– Load materials, secure workpieces, and monitor machine operation
– Run pre-approved CNC programs under supervision
– Perform basic tool changes and machine cleaning
– Inspect parts for basic quality and dimensional accuracy
– Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment
– Communicate issues or questions to senior operators or supervisors
Required Qualifications
– Interest in CNC machining, fabrication, or woodworking
– Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
– Ability to read simple shop drawings or cut sheets (training provided)
– Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
– Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced shop environment
Preferred Qualifications
– Trade school, vocational training, or relevant coursework
– Any prior shop, woodworking, or manufacturing experience
– Familiarity with CNC concepts or CAD/CAM software (not required)
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work safely around machinery in an active shop environment.
