Salary: $90,000 - $100,000

This is a hybrid role based in Brooklyn, NY (3 days/week in-office)

 

Summary

The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC) is a not-for-profit corporation that serves as the real estate developer and property manager of the Yard on behalf of its owner, the City of New York. BNYDC strives to provide an environment in which innovative companies can take root and grow.

The Construction Project Manager is responsible for managing select development and construction projects in the Yard’s $300M ten-year capital budget with a focus on waterfront reconstruction.

Areas of Responsibility
  • Manage multiple design and construction projects at varying stages of development concurrently
  • Assist senior management during the planning and implementation of new projects
  • Proactively manage issues around design, budget, and timeline
  • Prepare Request for Proposals/Bids, manage the evaluation process, prepare necessary contract documents, maintain project files and schedules
  • Review vendor invoices for accurate and timely payments
  • Propose and implement strategies to improve efficiency of internal procedures
  • Interface and negotiate with architects, engineers, construction managers, general contractors, sub-contractors, and tenants
  • Coordinate cross-functional reviews of proposed and ongoing work
  • Maintain accurate and complete department files, both electronically and hard copy
  • Perform other duties & ad-hoc projects as assigned
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated experience in project management/construction management
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project and PowerPoint
  • Proficient with AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of NYC Construction Codes and permitting process
  • Strong sense of initiative with respect to resolving urgent or unexpected project issues
  • Detail-oriented and strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally, at all levels – externally with tenants, consultants, and contractors, and internally with the Operations, Legal, Security, and Development Department
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Construction Science, Construction Management and/or Architecture from an accredited four-year institution
  • 5-7 years of experience in planning, managing and coordination of design and construction projects
  • Focus on waterfront development and reconstruction preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License preferred
